Youth that have experienced some sort of trauma in their background present with a unique range of challenges that often manifest in unwanted behaviors and a lack of affect regulation skills. This training will address the many complex issues that accompany working with youth that have trauma backgrounds and how to effectively respond and intervene. By attending this training you will build skills that will help youth to develop feelings of safety. Additionally you will learn what it means to be trauma informed and how to begin implementing trauma informed practices in your community.

This event is part of the Mental Health Training Series.

The Mental Health Training Series is a luncheon series held five times per year at the Allen County Public Library as part of the Mental Health Specialty Track of Allen Superior Court. The training series, a collaboration between Great KIDS make Great COMMUNITIES and Allen Superior Court, Family Relations Division, is offered free of charge and is funded in part by the Court Improvement Project and The Lutheran Foundation. These trainings are open to professionals and volunteers working with children and families involved in the court system. Preregistration is required.
