Join Great KIDS make Great COMMUNITIES for a full-day training on Working with Military Families. This training will cover the cycle of deployment, its affects on the individual soldier as well as its impact on the family. Targeted for clinicians and those in the helping profession working with families, this training is designed to share needed information and techniques for working with families with a loved one serving in the Armed Forces.

The morning session will focus on the individual soldier and include:

  • "Who is serving?" A profile of Allen County military personnel
  • Battlefield Mindset
  • Mental Health Concerns
    • Suicide Prevention
    • Traumatic Brain Injury
    • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
    • Combat Stress Response
    • Poly-Trauma

The afternoon session will focus on families members of deployed personnel and include:

  • Emotional Responses of Families Throughout the Deployment Cycle
    • Typical Responses of Children and Caregivers
    • Family Structural Changes During Deployment/Re-Entry
    • Strategies for Working with Families
    • Community Supports

Registration fee is $20. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, conference materials and 6 CEU's as approved by the Indiana Professional Licencing Agency, Category I.
